MetaReview: Dark Messiah Might and Magic

Dark Messiah: Might and Magic review scores are in. The verdict: not bad, but not so hot. If you’re someone who’s into an FPS style action RPG with elements of stealth and you’re not playing Oblivion, this might be worth looking into. It’s based on the Source engine so at least you’ll know it’ll look pretty. Because of the engine, it looks like this is just an FPS wearing an ARPG jacket.
WorthPlaying says that while the missions are linear, the player has a choice in how to approach the mission, whether it be swinging a sword, or creeping in the shadows. While multiplayer mode is available, servers were scarce. (8.6/10)

IGN: physics engine is amazing, but fights gets stale after a while because they don’t feel very natural. Multiplayer was more fun than singleplayer because it makes players concentrate on the skills of their characters instead of on environmental advantages. (7/10)

1up: Magic, stealth, and archery are all upstaged by just a simple melee kick. Multiplayer full of sword swingers. (6.1/10)

Yahoo Games: Puzzles are simple ’search and do’ missions. Dungeons are tedious. Long loading times. (3.5/5)

Gamepot: Dull and full of technical glitches. More of an action game. Character customization is limited. (6.7/10)
